"Jesús del Gran Poder" is a religious procession that takes place in Quito on Holly Friday. Near 1.200 penitents participated in this walk of faith. They start at the San Francisco church, and go over several blocks around Quito Historic Center. The “Cucuruchos”, purple cloaked individuals spent countless hours preparing for the procession. They represent the penitents, engaging in acts of self-penance and asking for forgiveness for their sins.
The following images were taken early in the morning, backstage of the San Francisco church were they prepare themselves for the procession.
